Day 1 - Gordons Way: One Body - Many Parts
Gordons Way was the first venue to 'Come Together' for the Oxted Adventure. It is 'One Body - of Many Parts'. The jigsaw motif helped all to see their part in the community and with the reusable cups, each person was also doing their bit. It was lovely to read the big jigsaw board where members of the community were able to write what is so special about Oxted. Thank You Gordons Way for starting us off in great style. :-)

Day 2 - Come together to spread joy & dispel loneliness
'The Fields' treated us to a poignant 'Kitchen Sink Drama' about how Christmas can be such a stressful and lonely time for some. With the worry of a broken boiler at Christmas being the catalyst, the drama unfolded to show how some gentle words, an invitation and some time spent together can make such a powerful difference to lives. Who can you check-in on? Come together!

Day 3 - URC & Oxted PreSchool
We are members of so many communities. In the URC, adventurers were invited to add a smiley sticker to show where they live on the community map; to consider the farming community; the importance of family at home; the church community. Then of course, there is the nativity community coming together - from the wise men to the humble shepherds. Young adventurers were also able to ice cakes and decorate paper people chains holding hands. Thank you URC.

Day 4 - St. Mary's, Silkham Road
Schools bring lots of people together from different backgrounds and of different ages. Today, the St. Mary's School community came together to mark Advent with joyful carols sung by young and old. Thank you to the children and staff in the choir who led us all in our musical appreciation of Advent.

Day 5 - The Woodhouse Centre
Adventurers were welcomed to a magical place that almost looked like a grotto of a special somebody putting together gifts for Christmas! The Woodhouse Centre is certainly a place where many from the community come together to spend time, chat, work, and hone skills. Whether your skills mirror those of Jospeh's family in carpentry; or needle craft and knitting - all are welcome to this wonderful meeting place in the week. There were interesting and exciting objects to find, many of which are for sale. We also found the poppy making station getting ready for each remembrance day. (You can find the Woodhouse Centre here on facebook... https://www.facebook.com/oxtedhelp/ or here on the internet... http://thewoodhousecentre.org.uk/ They are a charity and would very much welcome your support - as a volunteer or with help to raise funds.)

Day 6 - Dhama Court
A lovely vintage van was parked in Dharma Court ready to serve adventurers refreshments as they explored the history of this self-contained, varied community. Overseeing all was a beautiful angel; and flanking the passageway were lots of tree decorations - each noting a particular group or activity that makes Oxted such a special place to live. Please take some time to read the notes in the photos for a potted history of Dharma Court.

Day 7 - Westlands Way
Adventurers came together in Westlands Way to remember one particular Christmas when peace broke out in the midst of war for just one night. Some may be familiar with the Christmas truce of WW1 but perhaps not of the poetry written about that time - when the British and German soldiers climbed out of the trenches to come together in no-man's land. Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy's poem was recited in front of the adventurers and alongside photographs remembering those who gave their lives.
