Day 15 - Johnsdale
Regular adventurers know that, like Westlands Way, Johnsdale is a community in itself and today we were welcomed to join in with carols accompanied by ukulele, make decorations, eat gingerbread, complete a quiz, reflect on what community means to us - and admire the wonderful knitted advent calendar! It is lovely that the calendar will remain accessible to the community for the whole of advent and everyone is invited to 'come again' to the Johnsdale community and have a peek as each new piece is revealed.

Day 16 - Idol Hands
Music is a great way to bring people together and when you start playing an instrument, you often find yourself part of many communities - all of which are able to spread joy and fellowship to others. Tonight, adventurers were able to see and listen to the members of a number of different great bands and groups. Can you name them all? (Sorry we didn't manage to catch everyone on film but there were many others there in support too.) Thanks to Idol Hands and friends for bringing us together in music. Hopefully we will be able to share a few snippets on here soon.

Day 17 - British Legion
Adventurers were welcomed into the British Legion today to come together and get a feel for another, different community. This community looks backwards to care for and honour those of the past who gave so much; as well as look forwards to support other communities today - young and old, men and women, members or not - as well as our furry, four-legged friends! We were welcomed with Christmas games, home-cooked food, craft activities; and a quiz about the British Legion itself. (Have a look at the photo of the answers to see that the legion does much more than you may have expected.)

Day 18 - Kings
There are many Christian communities in Oxted. Kings Church are a community who regularly meet in Oxted School on Sundays. Today they welcomed adventurers to their base at Amy Road. Qunicy talked us through home, local, national and global communities - both from our perspective and those of biblical times. The reflection was interspersed with some great songs performed by lovable puppets; as well as quiz questions rewarded with chocolate! We hope to post some video of the great songs soon. They had specially adapted lyrics to give a Christmas message and were a big hit with the children and adults alike.

Day 19 - The Tune Inn
Today adventurers were encouraged to use priceless musical instruments - their voices! Singing is said to be good for the soul and it has positive health benefits. When people come together to sing, those benefits are multiplied. Choirs use the best of what an individual can offer to create something even greater than the sum of the parts. They can be inspirational and the companionship exceptionally valuable. Alongside the singing - adventurers were invited to decorate angels, guess the carols missing their vowels, find out all about local opportunities to sing, and even pose as a chorister for a photo!
