Day 20 - Wonky Vinyl in the Woods
The adventure so far has highlighted the incredible value of music within communities. Don't feel left out if you haven't had the chance to learn an instrument or if you are a bit of a 'growler' rather than a tenor, alto or bass... the 'Wonky Vinyl Club' comes to the rescue! Appreciation and sharing is what this is all about. Adventurers were invited to come together to share any 45s or albums that they are particularly fond of while listening (and dancing) to the selection of others. What a great way to share music (and actually hold those bits of wonky vinyl while examining the great artwork and text on the sleeves). To accompany this was a fun and enlightening Christmas quiz. Why not have a go? Can you match the clues on the sleeves to people and objects in the Christmas Story?

Day 21 - Meadowbrook
Communities often begin and develop around water - certainly in Biblical times. So with Meadowbrook as a location, it wasn't a big stretch to imagine the shepherds gathered in a meadow, near a brook, warming themselves by the fire. The adventurers who braved the rain tonight were able to toast marshmallows by the fire, while enjoying the lights, mulled wine, mince pies and conversation.

Day 22 - Court Farm Community
Members of a community can be as diverse and as wonderful as a spectrum - each member bringing their own qualities, light, colour and shade - to create something unique. Today, adventurers were invited to add their part and make their mark on the stage that is this life. Children could make their own characters to add to the story and all could see their influence in lights upon the community of family and friends of Oxted. Then everyone was welcome to celebrate together at St. Mary's - with moving carols by candlelight.

Day 23 - Mummers vs Nativity
Tonight’s Oxted Adventure takes us to Gresham Road.
Communities often have fascinating traditions which keep memories and culture alive through the generations. Today, a number of generations of the MacTavish family performed an entertaining blend of two traditional plays - the Mummers play and the Nativity Story. What a perfect way for communities to come together and see the 'stage being set' for Christmas Eve at St. Mary's; and then of course - Christmas day itself!
Christmas in the UK (and indeed reflected in this year's Oxted Adventure) is a blend of tradition and the story of Jesus coming to walk among us on Earth - Emmanuel.

Day 24 - St. Mary's
Tonight the adventurers came to St. Mary's from far and wide to mark the last day of advent - anticipating Jesus' birth. Waiting for us was a beautifully lit scene of diverse communities coming together in crowded Bethlehem. The nativity saw the wise men, with their precious gifts; rubbing shoulders with the lowest on the social ladder - the shepherds. Thank you to everyone in the community who has participated in this wonderful adventure: whether hosting, helping or joining us all on the journey. There is a place set out for all to... 'come together'.
