Day 15 - O is for... 'Old-Style Carols'
Today, ‘The Whisky Sours’ - a wonderful vintage-style singing group - came to Oxted to entertain the Advent-urers.
Singing through old radio mics and vintage speakers, The Whisky Sours encouraged everyone to join in with traditional carols
as well as more contemporary songs made famous by the John Lewis Christmas adverts.
You can find some recordings on the ‘OA player’ page of the website.
Enjoy!

Day 16 - P is for... Peace on Earth
Was it the colour-changing candles, choral singing or the incense that led the way to tonight’s Advent Garage?
Within the hustle and bustle of preparation for the Christmas Holiday we need to be mindful to remember to prepare for Christmas itself.
Tonight’s garage allowed space for contemplation and reflection. The theme was ‘Peace on Earth’, which can all too easily be forgotten.
We hope all our Advent-urers will find some peace this Christmas.

Day 17 - Q is for... Questions
Advent is really about preparing for the coming of Jesus.
In doing so we may find ourselves asking questions about ourselves and our lives,
as well as other questions about the coming of Christ or the Christmas Story.
Downs Way posed some questions, while entertaining us with lovely, enthusiastic singing from their Christmas play.
Dressed to play the part too, the Advent-urers thoroughly enjoyed the children’s performance.
Thank you Downs Way School.

Day 18 - R is for... Rejoice
Kings Church brought joy to Amy Road today with a colourful, musical, entertaining, puppet show.
Children and adults alike gasped at the fun-filled spectacle.
With 4 different showings (under black lights); and some great Christmas songs; there was fun to be had for everyone.
The message for the evening was clearly highlighted on the walls.
“Rejoice – Jesus is born – Rejoice.” The most important event in history needs some celebration!
Thanks Kings Church for a lovely evening.

Day 19 - S is for... Gresham Road rocked to some specially adapted songs for the Christmas holiday.
They included a wonderful twist on the Kaiser Chiefs’ classic – which became… ‘I predict a diet’! (Lyrics below...)
Roxted played old favourites as well as some new songs for the crowd to sing along and dance to.
It was a joyful night, full of good cheer.
(You can watch and listen to some of the performances on the OA Player.)
Thanks Roxted
